How To Remove Blood Stains From Carpet Using Meat Tenderizer

Blood can be difficult to remove from a carpet, this is due because carpets are made up from many different bristles and the blood clings to them.  A poultice can be made with unseasoned meat tenderizer and water. The poultice attaches to each of the bristles and lifts the blood off.

What You Will Need

  • Meat Tenderizer
  • Water
  • Saucer or Side Plate
  • Clean Cloth

How to make the poultice

  1. Place some meat tenderizer in a shallow dish (the amount depends on how big the stain is).
  2. Gradually mix in water 1/2 tsp at a time to form a thick paste.

Instructions

  1. Apply the poultice to the blood stain and allow to sit for 15-20 min.
  2. Scrape away and discard the poultice residue using a butter knife or similar blunt tool.
  3. Blot the stain with a damp clean cloth.
  4. Rinse the affected area with clean water.
  5. Blot any excess water with a clean dry cloth.
  6. If the stain remains repeat this process.

Tips

  • This method also works well on mattress and upholstry

How To Remove Blood Stains With Meat Tenderizer

Things You Will Need:

  • Meat tenderizer (unseasoned)
  • Water
  • Bucket or Sink
  • Clean Towel

Instructions

  1. Soak the blood-stained fabric in a bucket or sink filled with cold water. Make sure the clothing is submerged and saturated. Allow the stain to soak in the water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Check the spot on the fabric that has the blood stain. If the stain is still there, add 5g of meat tenderizer to 240ml of water. Use this combination to dab the stain out. This should work because meat tenderizer, the enzymatic powder, is designed to break down proteins, and blood is a protein.
  3. Use a clean, dry towel to blot the stain. Do not rub, or you will spread the stain.
  4. Wash in cold water after the stain has been lifted. Do not put in the tumble drier until you are certain the stain is gone, as the heat will set the stain permanently.
